BACK TO THE FUTURINGCTE Targeted Outcomes
Career and Technical Education allows for positive educational outcomes.
The following are outcomes, qualities, and characteristics that ACTEA members
aim for in all of our programs. These targeted outcomes make CTE an optimal
tool for all schools, disciplines and P-16 educational organizations.
- Provides students with a mechanism to learn in context, making academics more
relevant and increasing students’ ability to pass NYS Regents exams. - Links academic skills and knowledge to career education programs.
- Creates mental models that allow academics to be understood in depth.
- Enhances critical thinking as theoretical concepts are applied to “real world” situations.
- Creates a significant motivation that doesn’t inherently exist in non-CTE programs.
- Addresses both sides of the phrase “educate for good citizenship and productivity.”
- Builds self-efficacy and confidence as students create tangible evidence that they are
learning and achieving. - Addresses student learning styles — a core instructional issue for schools not reaching
desired state and nationalachievement levels.
